The Marinas On Lake Grapevine Celebrate National Marina Day - Monday, June 22, 2009

National Marina day will be celebrated Saturday, August 8th on Lake Grapevine. Twin Coves Marina, Silver Lake Marina and Scott's Landing Marina will join together for an afternoon of activities, food, water fun and entertainment. Marina members are invited to enter the Cardboard Boat "Regretta". The "regretta" gets it's name from the many boats that have sunk over the years. All boats are made from corrugated cardboard and manned by paddle power around a course off the beach at Scott's Landing Marina. Over the years there have been many outstanding and creative designs. The day will also feature, water slides, entertainment and plenty of popcorn and cotton candy and snow cones. Registration forms, rules and schedules are available in the marina offices at all three locations.NMD09vectorCurves.jpg

National Marina Day is a recognition of marinas and the benefits and value they bring to local community. They provide a strong foundation for family activities and promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

The goal of National Marina Day is the education of politicians, civic leaders and the public about the important role the marina industry plays in cities and towns across the nation as family-friendly gateways to boating and stewards of the environment.

Lake Grapevine and Twin Coves Marina Mourns Our Friend Collene Sallee - Monday, February 09, 2009

Collene Sallee, left us peacefully on Friday, February 6th, 2009 following a brief illness. For almost twenty years as its marina manager, Collene was the energy and spirit of Twin Coves Marina. There was not a day that Collene didn't shine and the marina reflected her very essence. Spring brought multitudes of vibrant floral displays and every holiday was an event. She loved her marina members and co-workers and considered them all family. She will be missed by all who knew her and were touched by her vibrant love of life. A Blog has been set up for Collene for anyone wishing to share their thoughts and memories at http://collenesallee.blogspot.com/.
If you have photos you would like to share, please submit them to
sfunk@marinasintl.com and they will be posted on the BlogSpot and in the Photo Gallery on this website.

"Celebrate Lake Grapevine" Salutes National Marina Day - Friday, August 22, 2008

The Marinas of Lake Grapevine got together to recognize National Marina Day with a family oriented day of fun and games, food and entertainment. Scott's Landing, Silver Lake Marina and Twin Coves Marina joined forces to treat their members to a day of celebrating the lake, it's boaters and families. Lunch was served under a much needed air conditioned tent while JumpBack Band played for the crowd. The Duck Riders "duck boat" came by and quacked its horn to pick up guests for a tour around the lake. While the kids waited anxiously for the return of the duck boat they kept cool on two giant inflatable water slides. As JumpBack Band wound down the afternoon of tunes, the Cardboard Boat "Regretta" entries began to set up their "pit tents" for final adjustments and design judging. Before each of the boats hit the water, the crew was interviewed by a film crew about the construction, design and details of their vessels. The competition was fierce when the boats hit the water as they made several laps around the course. Awards and gift certificates were given for Best Design, Best Time and of course, Best Sinking. As the day gave way to the evening, the events moved to Big Daddy's where the Vic Duncan Band rocked the the dock with tunes old and new to please a crowd of all ages.
